Yoga means "to unite or to bring together". Prenatal yoga helps to unify the magical connection between a mother and her baby. Pregnancy is a beautiful time in your life; however, it can also be overwhelming and stressful. Research has shown that prenatal yoga can help to combat stress during pregnancy.
Prenatal yoga benefits:
- Improved sleep
- Reduced stress and anxiety
- Increase strength, flexibility, and endurance of muscles needed for child birth
- Decrease lower back pain, nausea, and carpal tunnel syndrome symptoms
- Decrease headaches and shortness of breath
- Reduce symptoms of postpartum depression
Prenatal yoga is a multidimensional approach to exercise during pregnancy. It encompasses so many important aspects of childbirth including a better connection with your ever-changing body, gentle stretching for sore muscles, stabilization for an the expanding pelvis, mental clarity and centering, and focused breathing.
Contact me for private or group prenatal yoga sessions. Private sessions can also involve manual therapy for specific aches and pains during this time and education about pelvic floor health during and after pregnancy.
